The conceptual and interactive city installation “Lights On Data”, refers to the ever growing employment possibilities in the renewable energy sector. This setup was entirely conceptualised and produced by Team Fisheye for the Summer Lights Festival in London in 2022. This fascinating piece of public art will be be housed at Southbank Place and we hope will be enjoyed by residents and Londoners alike.

Through this conceptual piece of art, which doubles as a piece of city furniture, the sun creates an alluring shadowplay filled with colour, reflection and even data. The installation involves a visualization of job opportunities in the world of renewable energy. By the year 2050, a whopping 42 million jobs will be available in this impactful industry.

The sculpture includes a multitude of steel circles with integrated plexiglass panels and each oone shines a light on a different region or job sector worldwide. These colourful diagrams connect an aesthetical approach with conceptual thinking. The world is evolving, and so are the shadows casted on the ground. The position of the sun influences the data shown, and we invite passers-by to take a moment and see the impact of work at work.

O.T. 1131 is originally digital drawing is transformed into three-dimensional space using real, tactile materials. In O.T. 1131 the digital is transformed into a multicoloured, mesh surface allowing natural daylight to interact with, and bring life to the artificial, digital design.

In his work Stefan Reiss has been researching for more than ten years in the fields of drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, projection and lighting. He develops specific works for the different media, which are mutually connected and establish contextual relationships between them. His artistic focus is to combine art and technology, research and innovation, immersion and experience.

Stefan Reiss lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He studied Fine Arts / Sculpture at Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. He is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors (London, UK).

One of his latest works, O.T. 1131, will be installed at Southbank Place this Autumn. Public art continues to feature around the development; a commitment to continuing the artistic and creative legacy of the Southbank.
